During this session we are going to to break the taboo around sex education by letting people share in a group setting their positive and memorable experiences around sex education. Why is this important? It is important because our client reached out to us that they are stuck on the way they need to provide sex education. By doing this we hope to gain more outside perspectives from several people, we hope to get a better understanding of what the positives are within sex education. The school wants more and we are more then willing to help them with their issue. That is why this event is the perflect place to kick off with this project.
In this workshop we will explore a new ways of educating! Teaching children about what is happening in the world around them, show them injustice and inequality and challenge them to develop their own opinions, in other words, creating global citizens. Cross Your Borders is a foundation that is working hard to achieve this, by exploring new and interactive ways of education. Through an interactive gaming platform they have seen the opportunity to reach even more children, but they need your help to come up with new games! Would you like to contribute and see how an organisation like this operates, join to workshop! Help us brainstorm! There are even spots available for an epic experience design project!
How would you describe the colour gold to a blind person?
How would you describe the sound a busy street to a deaf person?
How would you describe the scent of Christmas to someone is unable to detect smells?
I would like to invite you to join me on a journey, where we will together discover the complexity of our language use. Every form of media that surrounds us, makes use of language in one way or another, such as news, articles, songs, interviews, movies, journals, etc., and I do believe that the way they do it, can have a big impact on the way we view the world.
How does the language we use and the words we choose can influence our attitude towards certain situations and occurrences? That is one of many questions that we will look into more deeply.
Join me and find out what it is that YOU have to say!
Â
Join us on an adventure to explore the topic of Love. Along the way we hope you get inspired by love stories, different perspectives on this topic and by conversations with your fellow explorers!
I have a comfortable life, but in my daily life I’m still searching for something. I feel like our world is predetermined from the start. The path has been set from the beginning and all we do as citizens is follow this laid out route. This is why I went on a exploration to break with the predetermined route and start to create my own path.
In this workshop I would like to take you along on my journey to break my boundaries and extend my comfort zone. We have the power to create our own world, to make our own rules, and I am inviting you to come along the ride with me to explore all of the options that are possible in our world.
Looking at the pressure our students experience from the total package of study commitments, study hours and deadlines, social activities, work, and other responsibilities, we cannot help but conclude that this can cause both physical and mental pressure. The question we can ask ourselves in this regard is whether these adaptations contribute sufficiently to the delivery of professionally competent practitioners who are sufficiently resilient to pursue their future profession.
This question has led to a project in which we want to experiment, together with students and teachers, with forms of work across our curriculum that (can) contribute to the harmonious development of our students. The ambition of the project is to start an active community with the following ambition:
To provide education for all students that produces professionally competent professionals who have a healthy, harmonious lifestyle and can therefore function well and in balance, both in their work and private life.
In this workshop, in addition to a short introduction of the project and its activities so far, we want to start experimenting with different forms of work together with the participants and students to start a conversation with each other about student well-being and the harmonious development of students in our curriculum.
Short talk on the concept of freedom and how it is misinterpreted and misused for the benefit of the financial elite.
Let’s Play equal – The most unfair game in the world!
Â
Wamkelekile, DobrodoSIi, Yökoso, Bienvenido, Welcome.
Yes, you’ve got your hands on this game… What a privilege! Whatever your identity makeup, make yourself comfortable to celebrate diversity in our society in all its beauty and all its agony. In other words, sh*t is about to get real.
Â
Let’s play equal and experience having privilege, or not having it at all. How does the hand we are dealt help or hinder us as we move through life? Let’s see how it affects success, love, and your outlook on life. Above all, we’ll have fun. Get competitive and be empathetic. Speak your mind and listen closely. It’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. Promise.
Â
Discuss, learn, reflect, and enjoy the win!
In this workshop we are going to complete a challenge in which you as a group need collective creativity
In this movement workshop Noemi will lead us into her ongoing research about egalitarian communities and the skills necessary for organising in this way. She will do this in an embodied way, through physical games. Through our bodies we will explore topics such as collaboration, communication, shared ownership and collective decision-making. In this way, we will learn together how to better connect with ourselves and each other in order to foster collective action and non-hierarchical forms of organisation.
We would like to co-create the new “Tourism Design’ for Performatory with participants who love tourism, but also would like to rethink the tourism system/practices.
Â
We’ll use the Open Space format to play.
What does it take to create your own music, story or dance? In what ways can we trigger our curiosity to play and be creative? We invite you to a session to brainstorm about a day full of activities for art-students and visitors of Nieuwe Veste to create their own work.
Find your inner rebel by speaking out! In this workshop we’ll help you to give words to your own activism. It’s all about bringing a hopefull sound to the world using the strength and art of your imagination. Make some real noise with spoken word artist Jasja Renne!
Â
Don’t be held back by thinking ‘’but I’m not a performer’’. We’ll take you through it step by step, on your own level, no experience needed in writing or performing.
Waacking is a dance form originating from the Punk style inside the LBGT clubs in LA. There’s strength in expressing yourself in your own individual style. By putting yourself out there you can inspire and make way for others to do the same. We’ll give you fun and simple steps to get into this and explore your unique style through movement. Come release your inhibitions and WAACK!
Â
You don’t need any experience to join in, just bring yourself:)
Come join us for a workshop where we will explore the power of dialogues. In a world that often focuses on our differences, let’s look for the things we have in common instead. With the help of language and communication, we want to build stronger connections. Are you open to question your views, and what we assume makes us different? Let’s discover together what we can learn when we look beyond our first impressions.
The world of leisure and the world of work are increasingly intertwined and blended. Why we work, how we work, when we work, for whom we work and where we work & live is changing rapidly in Western society. This has a major impact on the purpose and role of buildings, whether they are offices, shops or homes and provides great opportunities for transformative social innovation given some of the societal challenges we face. In this workshop we will explore the future of the city by zooming in on the future of work, leisure and tourism.
During the session, I will invite people to have some fun with the Climate Streamers Card Game. The game is designed to stimulate open and safe spaces for players to share their stories, feelings, and concerns regarding climate change. Everyone is welcome to play, and no prior knowledge about the topic is needed.
The organisation, as well as the card game, are a great example of projects that can be created with Social Innovation. Both were influenced by creative sessions done at Performatory and by projects of fellow Performatory Students.
The media, politicians and opinion makers are highly vocal; our world is full and so are our agenda’s. But what if we approach the pressing issues of our time with different thinking, asking ourselves other questions? Perhaps the housing problem is not a lack of space but a lack of love? Let’s explore if we can make space by giving it to others.
Can we look ahead now, so that we may look back happily ever after?

“Mood Path” is an innovative project, where we wanted to discover how art impacts human emotions. A variety of art forms and sensory experiences will get you immersed in a world full of feelings, shapes and colors. The exhibition is designed to evoke certain emotions – during the Society Shakers Festival you will get a chance to experience the part of our exhibition, which we focused on the feeling of anger.
| After a traumatic experience, you are considered broken. If you are a victim of sexual assault you will never recover. You will never be the same after being assaulted. I want to prove these statements are wrong. The survivors’ stories are often left out of the narrative because they do not fully represent our society. With this experience, I want to rise awareness and open the conversation on this topic. |
This project was part of a personal research into where I would like to contribute as a social innovator. Being multiracial, I noticed the difficulties in society that affect my family members, and one topic that caught my eye was how society treated their natural hair. This project showed me how hair discrimination and assumptions in our society today are rooted in old colonial values, and how these values are expressed through institutional racism, othering, and microaggressions. With this project, I aimed to create more awareness of the discrimination against natural hair in today’s society.
Losing the first love of your life, your pet, your grandmother, your brother or even your house – all have one thing in common: grief.
Almost everyone has experienced grief, yet hardly anybody talks about it.
Help me break the taboo by writing (anonymously) about how grief changed you.
